Sono nata a Roma, dove mi sono laureata in Economia. Da sempre ho una grande passione per la scrittura.

Sebbene sia cresciuta davanti alla Rolleiflex di mio padre, ho scattato le mie prime foto solo dopo aver dedicato gran parte della mia esistenza a fare tutt’altro. Poi, l’Africa e la fotografia hanno cambiato radicalmente il mio modo di relazionarmi con la vita.

L’amore per i bambini e la Onlus Italia Solidale, di cui faccio parte da oltre 15 anni, mi hanno portato nel 2003 in Uganda, tra i più poveri e martoriati del pianeta. Lì ho compreso che l’Africa ce l’avevo dentro, da sempre, e tornarci continuamente è diventata un’esigenza irrinunciabile.

Per quel viaggio in Uganda ho acquistato la mia prima fotocamera. Dopo aver scritto un articolo sulla Namibia per una rivista italiana è cominciato il mio percorso di formazione fotografica. Inizialmente mi sono dedicata alla fotografia naturalistica, per una spinta interiore che mi portava ad uscire dalla città per ritrovare me stessa e le mie origini nella natura. Successivamente, l’incontro con alcuni noti fotoreporter italiani mi ha proiettato verso una visione diversa, spostando il mio interesse dalla natura selvaggia alla natura umana, in tutte le sue sfaccettature.

Oggi scrivo un po’ meno di prima, ma ho ancora più voglia di trasmettere emozioni.

Mi aiutano a farlo la fotografia, le relazioni con le persone prima di scattare, la post produzione a cui dedico una particolare cura, i miei due nipotini, sempre pronti a ricordarmi quanta libertà occorra per vedere davvero, ed i miei amici Turkana, con cui ho la fortuna di confrontarmi spesso, grazie ai progetti di sviluppo di vita e missione che seguo in Kenya con Italia Solidale.

Devo ringraziare proprio loro, i Turkana, per avermi fatto scoprire la forza dentro di me che mi ha convinto ad abbandonare i sogni degli altri e a cominciare a vivere i miei.

I was born in Rome, where I graduated in Economy. I have been passionate for writing since I was a child.

Although I grew up in front of my father’s Rolleiflex, I only shot my first photos after spending most of my life doing completely different things. At some point, Africa and photography radically changed my approach to life.

The passion for children and the non-profit organization Italia Solidale, of which I have been a member for over 15 years, brought me to Uganda in 2003, among the poorest and most suffering of the planet. There I understood that Africa was inside me, and it had always been. Getting back there over and over again became a paramount need.

I bought my first photocamera on the occasion of that trip to Uganda. My photography education started after an article I had written on Namibia was published in an Italian magazine. Initially, I focused on naturalistic photography, following an inner force pushing me out of town to retrieve myself and my origin in the nature. After this, the meeting with some well-known Italian photoreporters projected me into a different vision, moving my focus from wilderness to human nature, across all its aspects.

Today, I write a bit less but have an even stronger will to transmit emotions.

Photography, the relationships with the people I portray, the post-production to which I dedicate special attention, my two little nephews constantly reminding me of how much openness is needed to actually see things, and my Turkana friends, with whom I have the luck of being often in touch thanks to the Kenya projects of Italia Solidale – they are my greatest resources for inspiration and story-telling.

My special thanks and gratitude are for my friends in the Turkana tribe: for letting me discover the strength inside me that made me give up other people’s dreams and start living my own.
